The Functional Behavior Assessment of each child or adult referred to Intermountain’s program is based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The FBA is utilized to create an individualized plan for the member with the goals of reducing the occurrence of challenging behaviors and increasing the occurrence of replacement behaviors.
The assessment defines the challenging behavior in behavioral measurements, identifies the environmental conditions that cause and encourage the behavior, records the frequency of the problematic behavior, identifies strategies to intervene when the behavior occurs, and outlines positive replacement behavior and skills.
