Reprint: Intermountain Centers VP receives Fundraiser of the Year nomination

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Paul O’Rourke, Vice President of Development & Communications at Intermountain Centers, has been nominated for the national Fundraiser of the Year award.

The winner will be announced by OneCause at its annual Raise conference on Sept. 9 in Nashville.

The conference will feature keynotes from leading figures in nonprofit marketing and development, including Deborah Barge, Chief Development Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

O’Rourke was selected as one of five finalists from over 100 applicants nationwide. The other nominees represent organizations such as Calvary Women’s Services, Foster Love, Mitzvah Circle, and the Brian Muha Foundation.

The selection committee, made up of past Fundraiser of the Year winners, ensured impartiality by excluding OneCause employees from the process.

O’Rourke’s nomination highlights his contributions to the Intermountain Sensory Park, a 1.5-acre outdoor space designed for youth on the autism spectrum.

A collaboration between Intermountain and the City of Tucson, the park is expected to serve over 1,000 disabled youth and their families annually upon its fall opening.

His nomination also recognized his efforts in organizing Pickle Palooza, an event that raised over $100,000 for Intermountain’s workforce development programs, benefiting both disabled youth and those in the foster care system.
